Nucleus Vision: A Look Back at 2018 & the Road to Future
A timeline representing key moments in 2018.
The year 2018 has been eventful and exhilarating for Nucleus Vision with new partnerships, product & technology advancements, and marketing initiatives that have strongly contributed to our position as a pioneering emerging technology company.
Nucleus Vision, for the uninitiated, was aimed at providing insight from previously inaccessible data, to brick and mortar businesses. Offline retailers all over India have found great benefit in our product and we bring to you all the progress we’ve made in 2018.
Retail traction
We started the year with a successful fundraise of $40 million in token sale. This helped us shift gears from an early stage startup to an accelerated growth model and focus more on technology, go to market, and team development.
The first market that we went after was all brick and mortar retail formats — supermarkets, departmental stores, quick service restaurants, and exclusive brand stores. We expanded our scope into these formats with our partnerships with 9 leading brands in India.
During the pilots, our sensor technology identified more than 200,000 unique customers and delivered great value for our retail partners as they saw 73% conversions. We partnered with two of the leading telecom companies in India which allows us to securely request customer data upon in-store walk-ins.
While enhancing our presence in India, we signed partnerships with Korean company, ZOYI Corporation. Our partnership with ZOYI Corporation enables us to explore new avenues to strengthen online and offline analytics of customers across the world.
Technology Advancements
We wanted to make the ION Sensor technology completely network agnostic and ready for a global expansion. So, we launched the 4G compatible version of ION Sensors that would work ten times faster than the existing ones.
Our research and development efforts had resulted in five new technologies for which we filed patents. The technologies including:
Leading Indian Blockchain Revolution
India has all the potential to be a blockchain superpower, and for companies like Nucleus Vision to flourish, we need a thriving blockchain ecosystem, which can usher mass adoption of blockchain products. To provide the momentum needed for a massive blockchain adoption in the country, we led two momentous initiatives in 2018:
International Blockchain Congress 2018
We co-hosted International Blockchain Congress 2018 with the NITI Aayog (policy think tank of the government of India) and the state governments of Telangana and Goa. The three-day event was held on 3rd and 4th August in Hyderabad and on 5th August in Goa. With a turnout of more than 5,000 from across 11 countries, the event became the biggest blockchain conference in Asia. The event put Indian blockchain industry on centre stage.
Genesis Hack-2019
With an objective to create a stronger blockchain developer community in India, we have co-hosted Genesis Hack, the world’s biggest blockchain hackathon. More than 500 blockchain developers from across the world have already registered to participate in the hackathon. The developers will be tested through three segments including creating a blockchain protocol, developing dApps, and building security solutions for blockchain solutions. The winners will be awarded a prize money of INR 10 Million.
nCash Pay — the first step to our universal loyalty program
In December 2018, we launched nCash Pay, a new payment solution that would allow merchants to accept nCash tokens from their customers. This solution will escalate the circulation of nCash as the holders can exchange their tokens for consumer goods and services available online. More importantly, it is the first step to our universal loyalty program.
We have already partnered with StarFeed corporation and Russia-based FLOGmall along the lines of global expansion. Adding more utility for nCash and value to its holders, the partnership would allow StarFeed and FLOGmall to accept nCash for services on their platforms.
Team Development
We are now a team of 50 people based out of India, Europe and USA. In 2018,
we strengthened the teams of core and support functions in Nucleus Vision by hiring experts and professionals from various prestigious organizations.
We filled openings in areas including product development, sensor technology, business development, token development & strategy, legal & governance, finance, marketing, PR, and social media.
2019 is going to be no different, as we’re always on the lookout for talented people to join our company. If you’re interested in our vision and have the skills that will help us change brick and mortar retail, write to us at careers@nucleus.vision.
Action Plan for 2019
2018 was a very interesting year for us. We always set ourselves ambitious targets — some of them we met and some we didn’t. Markets have been tumultuous and navigating them has been difficult for everyone in this space. Having said that, there will always be a strong effort towards achieving them.
We see 2019 as the year where we double down on shipping our product and market traction. This year, we are chasing three strategic outcomes including exploring new business model & revenue, global market expansion, and strategic partnerships with key retail players. To penetrate the Indian market, we are making moves towards partnership with more telecom companies and retailers. You will also see Nucleus Vision expand our global footprint with new collaborations and partnerships.
It’s back to work for us, and we hope you join us on this amazing adventure.
